Jonathan Tyler, a British political activist and academic, died on March 15, 2026.
Born in Reading on June 8, 1940, he was a Green Party activist and academic who had earlier been a transport lecturer at the University of Birmingham. He stood as an early parliamentary candidate for the Ecology Party in the 1976 Walsall North by-election and served as the party’s chairman from 1976 for several years.
He later contested local elections, took part in efforts by the Maingreen group to streamline the Green Party’s internal workings during the 1980s, left the party, and later rejoined it.
