Alec Penstone, a British naval officer and Second World War veteran, died on May 28, 2026, aged 101.
Born in Tottenham, London, on April 23, 1925, he served in the Royal Navy during the war after beginning his service in 1943, following training completed in December that year. His wartime career included duty aboard the escort aircraft carrier HMS Campania (D48), as well as service on submarines, and records show that he took part in D-Day operations and Arctic convoy missions.
Penstone remained in uniform after the war in Europe ended, serving through VE Day and later in the Far East before being demobilised in September 1946.
