
Orland Larson, a Canadian goldsmith and metalsmith, died on February 18, 2026, at age 94.
Larson was also an art educator who played a central role in developing professional jewellery education in Canada. He served as head of jewellery departments at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the Alberta College of Art, and founded the jewellery program at NSCAD University in Halifax, where he led the studio until 1977.
Earlier in his career, he worked in the federal school system in the Canadian Arctic and served as a school principal in Qikiqtarjuaq in the mid-1960s. He also held leadership roles in the Canadian Crafts Council and the World Crafts Council.
