Jean-Pierre Faye, the French philosopher and writer known for his work on horseshoe theory, died on March 26, 2026.

He was 100. Born in Paris on July 19, 1925, Faye wrote fiction and prose poetry.

He was a member of the editing committee of the avant-garde literary review Tel Quel and later of Change. Faye received the Prix Renaudot for his 1964 novel L’Écluse and was a regular contributor to Gilles Deleuze’s literary journal Chimère. With Jacques Derrida and others, he also coauthored the “Blue Report”.

Jean-Pierre Faye (French: [ʒɑ̃pjɛʁ faj]; 19 July 1925 – 26 March 2026) was a French philosopher and writer of fiction and prose poetry.
