Born in Pessac in 1929, she went on to build a long career in public life and journalism. Roudy was elected to the National Assembly for Calvados, serving from 1986 to 1993 and again from 1997 to 2002.
As minister from 1981 to 1986, she became closely associated with the 1983 “Roudy law,” which strengthened protections against sex discrimination in employment and shifted the burden of proof in workplace disputes onto employers.
