Alireza Tangsiri, an Iranian naval officer and commander of the IRGC Navy since 2018, died on March 26, 2026, after suffering serious injuries in the 2026 Iran war.
He was born in 1962 and served as a naval brigade commander during the Iran-Iraq War. Tangsiri later headed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy’s 1st Naval District in Bandar Abbas.
In September 2007, he said that if the United States were “to clash with us, we would chase them even to the Gulf of Mexico.”
