Born in Rabat in 1953, she trained as an actress at the Rouen Conservatory and later at the Conservatoire national supérieur d’art dramatique in Paris. While still a student, she made history in 1975 by staging Marivaux’s Les Sincères at the Paris Conservatory, becoming the first woman to direct there.
