Known also as Dorothy Dale Kloss, she began dancing at age 102 and later won a tap dance contest while taking class in Chicago with a young Bob Fosse. The victory led to her own act at the Empire Room in Chicago, after which she toured nationally, performed in Mexico City with Cantinflas and traveled with Eddy Duchin until his orchestra was drafted during World War II.
She then appeared for the USO and, in 1946, became a hostess and dance instructor on television broadcasts from Chicago’s WBKB.
