Miguel Canto, a Mexican boxer, died on April 16, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born Miguel Angel Canto Solis in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, on January 30, 1948, he was a former world boxing champion who held the WBC and lineal flyweight titles. He began his professional career on February 5, 1969, losing his first bout to Raul Hernandez in Mérida before later becoming a champion.

Canto was known for relying on technique and ring knowledge rather than seeking knockouts, winning 15 of more than 70 professional fights by knockout.
