Melchor Peredo, a Mexican muralist, died on April 8, 2026, at the age of 99.
Born Oscar Melchor Peredo in Mexico City on January 6, 1927, he was a representative of the social realist school of mural painting in Mexico. His murals depicted historical scenes from Mexican history, with an emphasis on revolutionary subjects, and his work appeared in public and government buildings across Mexico as well as in the United States and Europe.
He was also associated with the Frente Nacional de Artes Plásticas.
