
Gerd Winner, a German painter and sculptor, died on April 8, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born in Braunschweig in 1936, he graduated from the Berlin University of the Arts. He was known for large-format public artworks and often worked with Chris Prater in London.
In 2008, he unveiled an altarpiece at a parish in Bad Gandersheim. He was named an honorary citizen of Liebenburg in 2011, and his works are held at the Tate in London.
