David Kabua

David Kabua, a Marshallese politician who served as president from 2020 to 2024, died on April 8, 2026, of cancer.

He was born in Majuro in 1951 and represented Wotho Atoll in the Legislature of the Marshall Islands from 2008. Kabua also served terms as minister of health and minister of internal affairs.

He was the fourth child and second son of former Marshall Islands President Amata Kabua and former First Lady Emlain Kabua. Kabua graduated from Xavier High School in Chuuk State in 1971 and later studied at the University of Hawaii in Manoa.
