Carlo Molinari, the French businessman and president of FC Metz, died November 4, 2026, aged 93.

Born Charles Molinari in Villerupt on February 28, 1933, he was of Italian origin and first became known not through football but as a motocross rider. He won the French championship three times between 1952 and 1955.

During those years, he joined training sessions with FC Metz’s professional players to maintain his fitness, beginning a connection with the club before taking on its leadership. At 24, having lost his motivation for motocross, he left competition and devoted himself to business. With his friend Roger Carpi, he had founded a heavy-vehicle dealership company, and he went on to manage the IVECO dealership in the transport sector. His first term as president ran from 1967 to 1978. He returned in 1983 and remained in office until 2009, leading the club through a second, 26-year period. His career brought together competitive motocross, transport entrepreneurship and football leadership, with his early participation in FC Metz training linking his sporting beginnings to his later role at the club.
