He was 85. Imanishi played for Toyo Industries, later Mazda, after graduating from Tokyo University of Education and joined the club in 1963.

He played in the Japan Soccer League, where Toyo Industries won four consecutive championships from 1965 to 1968 and also took the Emperor’s Cup in 1965, 1967 and 1969. Imanishi retired in 1969 after appearing in 42 league games. He also played for the Japan national team, making his debut against India on December 10, 1966, and appearing in three international matches.
