Born in Khabarovsk in 1986, he began his professional career with Amur Khabarovsk and made his debut in the Russian Superleague during the 2006–07 season. He later appeared in the Kontinental Hockey League in the 2009–10 campaign and went on to play for clubs including Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod and Kunlun Red Star.

During the 2015–16 season, Murygin set a KHL shutout streak record of 302 minutes and 11 seconds before it was surpassed by Timur Bilyalov.
