
Raza Kazim, a Pakistani philosopher and political activist, died on April 16, 2026, at the age of 96.
Born on January 13, 1930, in British India, he was also a lawyer, inventor and former politician in Pakistan. He invented the Sagar Veena, a musical instrument played in Pakistan by his daughter Noor Zehra.
Kazim began his political career with a protest during the Quit India Movement in 1942, joined the Communist Party of Pakistan in 1948, and later became a lawyer in 1953. He was jailed under Ayub Khan, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Zia-ul-Haq.
