Best known for its 1960 hit “Greenfields,” the group was formed by Bob Flick, John Paine, Mike Kirkland and Dick Foley after they met at the University of Washington. The quartet’s second single, “Greenfields,” reached No.
2 on the Billboard Hot 100, sold more than one million copies and received a gold disc from the Recording Industry Association of America. The Brothers Four’s first professional performances followed a prank by a rival fraternity, and the group later signed with Columbia Records in 1959.
