Serge Mathieu, a French politician and winemaker who served as deputy from 1973 to 1976 and as senator from 1977 to 2004, died on March 14, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born in Crest, France, on February 10, 1936, he was associated with the Independent Republicans and later the Union for a Popular Movement. Mathieu also served as mayor of Corcelles-en-Beaujolais from 1971 to 1995 and was a substitute deputy in the National Assembly for Gérard Ducray.
