Rossana Reguillo Mexican sociologist dead at age 70

Rossana Reguillo, a Mexican sociologist, died on April 25, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born in Guadalajara in 1955, she was a Mexican academic known for researching social norms, human emotions, and the relationship between communication, culture, and politics in Latin America, including how drug trafficking affected those areas. She held professorial posts at ITESO University and the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Education.

Her work also examined the 1992 drainage explosions in Guadalajara and youth involvement in the Mara Salvatrucha.
