Sadio Camara, a Malian military officer, died on April 25, 2026, aged 47, after being shot in Kati, in Mali’s Koulikoro Region.
He took part in the 2020 Malian coup d’état with Colonel Assimi Goïta that ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta, and later served as minister of defense in the interim government. Camara held the defense portfolio from October 2020 to May 2021, was reinstated on June 11, 2021, and remained in the post until his death.
Born in Kati on March 22, 1979, he was a graduate of the Joint Military School and was serving as head of the Kati Military School during the 2020 coup.
