Konstantin Bogdanov, a Russian anthropologist and philologist, died on March 1, 2026.
He was born on March 30, 1963, in Leningrad, USSR, later Saint Petersburg, Russia. Bogdanov studied classical philology and Russian language and literature at Saint Petersburg State University.
He became a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, completed his PhD in 1992 with a dissertation on magic spelling in Russian folklore, and that same year became a leading researcher at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. His work focused on Russian culture, including folklore, rhetoric, the history of science and humanities, and the history of social thought in 18th- to 20th-century Russia.
