Wade, an American historian who wrote extensively about the 1917 Russian Revolution, died on August 16, 2026, aged 89. Known also as Rex Arvin Wade, he taught Russian and Soviet history at George Mason University from 1986 and had earlier taught at Wisconsin State University, La Crosse, the University of Hawaiʻi and as a visiting professor at the University of North Carolina, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Portland State University.
Born in Piedmont, Kansas, he built a career centered on the February and October Revolutions in Russia and authored numerous books on the subject.
