Takeshi Fukuda, a Japanese politician and former mayor of Kanuma in Tochigi Prefecture, died on August 16, 2026, aged 105.
Born in Tochigi, he studied at Utsunomiya Middle School, Keio Gijuku Futsubu and Keio University’s Faculty of Economics before joining the Imperial Japanese Army. After the war, he built a career in his hometown as a fertilizer merchant and later held senior posts at Kanuma Sogo Shinkin Bank, where he served as president and chairman.
Fukuda also led the Kanuma Chamber of Commerce and Industry and served in regional credit union organizations, including as chairman of the Tochigi Credit Union Association and as a director of the National Shinkin Bank Association.
