
Gerry Conway, an American comic book writer, screenwriter and television producer, died on April 27, 2026, at age 73.
He wrote for titles including The Amazing Spider-Man, Justice League and The Punisher, and was known for co-creating Marvel’s vigilante antihero the Punisher, along with Ben Reilly, the supervillain Jackal and the first Ms. Marvel.
Born Gerard Francis Conway in New York City, he grew up in Brooklyn and developed an early interest in comics. A letter from him appeared in Fantastic Four #50 in 1966, when he was 13. He attended New York University for a time.
