Brian Wilkinson, the Australian Olympic swimmer who competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics, died on April 27, 2026, aged 88.

Born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, on February 12, 1938, he represented Australia in the men’s 200 metre butterfly at the Melbourne Games. Wilkinson also won a gold medal at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff, Wales, as a member of the Australian men’s 4×220-yard freestyle relay team.
