
Desmond Morris, English zoologist, ethnologist and surrealist painter, died on April 19, 2026, at the age of 98.
Born Desmond John Morris in Purton, Wiltshire, on January 24, 1928, he was also a popular author in human sociobiology. He is best known for his 1967 book The Naked Ape and for television programmes such as Zoo Time.
Morris studied zoology at the University of Birmingham and later exhibited his paintings, including a surrealist show with Joan Miró at the London Gallery in 1950.
