Phunchok Stobdan, an Indian diplomat and former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, died on April 19, 2026.

He was 67. Stobdan served as India’s ambassador to Kyrgyzstan from 2010 to 2012.

He also served in the National Security Council Secretariat, was a senior fellow at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses in New Delhi, and was the founding president of the Ladakh International Centre. He was an academician and author, and wrote columns for The Indian Express.
