Annette Dolphin 74–75 dead at age 74

Annette Dolphin, a British scientist and professor of pharmacology in the Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology at University College London, died on January 26, 2026, aged 74–75.

Born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, in 1951, she studied biochemistry at the University of Oxford, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973, and later received a PhD from the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College London in 1977 for research on noradrenaline receptors. Dolphin was a leader in the field of neuronal voltage-gated calcium channels, with influential work on the regulation of calcium channel trafficking and function, including their modulation by G-protein coupled receptors and by auxiliary calcium channel subunits.

Annette Catherine Dolphin (1951 – 26 January 2026) was a British scientist who was professor of pharmacology in the Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology at University College London (UCL).
