Doens, whose full name was Mitchell Constantino Doens Ambrosio, was born in Colón Province on September 26, 1946, and later became a prominent figure in Panamanian public life. He served as the country’s Minister of Labour and was a leader in the Democratic Revolutionary Party.
He also briefly assumed the responsibilities of the Minister of Economy and Finance in 1995 while Guillermo Chapman Fábrega and his vice president were abroad.
