Harry Bramma, the British organist and composer, died on August 25, 2026, aged 89.
Born in Shipley in 1936 and also known as Harry Wakefield Bramma, he was a composer, organist and university teacher whose career began in 1960. He devoted much of his work to Anglican church music and held two prominent posts in church music: director of the Royal School of Church Music from 1989 to 1998 and director of music at All Saints, Margaret Street, from 1989 to 2004.
Educated at Bradford Grammar School and Pembroke College, he was part of a generation of British church musicians whose careers combined performance, composition and teaching.
