He was a losing Cup final finalist with Brann in 1987 and 1988, having joined the Bergen club from Fana ahead of the 1986 season for 25,000 kroner. Nybø spent seven seasons at Brann before returning to Fana for the 1993 campaign.
He went on to play three seasons at the club’s second-highest level and later served as Fana’s coach, ending a continuous 22-year involvement in football after the 2005 season.
