Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor known for roles in Monarch of the Glen, Take the High Road and Taggart, died on April 15, 2026, aged 81.

Born in Glasgow on March 24, 1945, he trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London from 1965 to 1968. Morton was best known for playing Golly Mackenzie in the BBC television series Monarch of the Glen from 2000 to 2005, appearing in all 64 episodes.

He also made regular appearances in Take the High Road as Andy Semple and later played Billy Kennedy in River City from 2012 to 2015.
