
Phil Rockefeller, an American politician and lawyer who served in the Washington Senate from 2005 to 2011, died on April 15, 2026.
He represented the 23rd legislative district as a Democrat, serving communities including Bainbridge Island, Keyport, Poulsbo, Kingston, Hansville, Silverdale and most of East Bremerton. Rockefeller received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his J.D.
from Harvard. Before winning election to the legislature, he served as education aide to Gov. John Spellman and as a regional commissioner of the U.S. Office of Education. In the Senate, he served as assistant majority floor leader and chaired the Water, Energy & Telecommunications Committee.
