Sir Peter Beale, the British Army lieutenant general and military physician, died on April 15, 2026, aged 92.

Lieutenant-General Sir Peter John Beale was born on 18 March 1934 in Romford, London, and was educated at St Paul’s Cathedral School and Felsted School before attending Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, as a choral scholar. He qualified in medicine in 1958 and was commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1960.

Beale served as Surgeon-General of the British Armed Forces from 1991 to 1994 and later as chief medical adviser to the British Red Cross from 1994 to 2000.
