Samuel Michael Hunt, an American politician and educator, died on April 26, 2026.
He was 83. Born in Billings, Montana, on December 9, 1942, Hunt served in the Washington State legislature from 2001 to 2025.
He represented the 22nd District in the Washington State House of Representatives from 2001 to 2016 and in the Washington State Senate from 2017 to 2025. He also taught in public schools in Pasco and Montesano and served as Governor Booth Gardner’s special assistant for K-12 education. After receiving a degree and teaching certificate from Washington State University, he pursued post-graduate studies at Washington State University and the University of Oregon.
