Monte Coleman

Monte Coleman, an American football player and coach, died on April 26, 2026, at age 68.

He played 16 seasons as a linebacker with the Washington Redskins from 1979 to 1994 and later served as head football coach at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Coleman played college football at the University of Central Arkansas, where he began as a safety before moving to linebacker as a senior.

He set a school record with 22 interceptions and became the first player from Central Arkansas drafted into the NFL.
