Peter Morris, the Australian politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1972 to 1998 and as minister of transport from 1983 to 1987, died on April 26, 2026, aged 93.
Born in Sydney on July 29, 1932, he held senior ministerial office in the Hawke government, including as minister for aviation, resources, transport and communications support, and industrial relations. He was also an alderman on Newcastle City Council from 1968 to 1974 and served in the Australian Labor Party at the federal electorate and branch level in Newcastle.
