Ling Liong Sik

Ling Liong Sik, a Malaysian politician who served as acting prime minister in 1988, died on April 4, 2026.

He was a member of parliament from 1974 to 2004 and served as minister of transport from 1986 to 2003. Ling was the sixth president of the Malaysian Chinese Association, and he was also chancellor and former chairman of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Born on September 18, 1943, in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, he died in Kuala Lumpur at the age of 82.

Ling Liong Sik (simplified Chinese: 林良实; traditional Chinese: 林良實; pinyin: Lín Liángshí; Foochow Romanized: Lìng Liòng-sĭk; 18 September 1943 – 4 April 2026) was a Malaysian politician. He was the sixth president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and also the former Minister of Transport. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak filed the suit against Ling Liong Sik on 2015, alleging that Ling had made libellous remarks against him in an article carried on a news portal.
