Born in Pretoria on June 1, 1961, she began her legal career as an attorney in the former Transvaal before joining the bench as a judge of the KwaZulu-Natal Division of the High Court of South Africa in November 2008. She was transferred to the Limpopo Division in January 2016 and became Deputy Judge President there in July 2016.
In June 2019, she was elevated to the Supreme Court of Appeal, where she served until her death.
