Agus Widjojo, an Indonesian military officer and diplomat, died on February 8, 2026, in Jakarta at the age of 78.
He was vice chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia and served as Indonesian National Armed Forces Chief of Territorial Affairs. Widjojo was regarded as one of the TNI’s leading intellectuals and was responsible for restructuring the political and security doctrine of the armed forces while serving as commandant of the Armed Forces’ staff college and chief of territorial staff.
He also served as governor of the Indonesian National Resilience Institute and as a member of the Indonesia-Timor Leste Commission of Truth and Friendship.
