Yair Garbuz, an Israeli visual artist, writer, and opinion journalist, died on April 29, 2026, at the age of 80.

Born in Givatayim, Mandatory Palestine, on September 29, 1945, he studied painting under Raffi Lavie while living at Kibbutz Kfar HaHoresh and also attended the Avni Institute of Art and Design in Tel Aviv. Since his debut in 1967, his work was shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad.

Garbuz received the 2004 EMET Prize in painting and served as director of the HaMidrasha Art School at Beit Berl College for 12 years.
