Richard Harries, Baron Harries of Pentregarth, the British Anglican clergyman and life peer who served as Bishop of Oxford from 1987 to 2006 and sat in the House of Lords from 2006, died on April 29, 2026, aged 89.
Born on 2 June 1936, he was educated at Wellington College, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Selwyn College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1963 and went on to serve in parish, teaching and cathedral roles before his appointment as Bishop of Oxford.
He was later Gresham Professor of Divinity from 2008 to 2012.
