Victoria MacKenzie-Childs Ceramic artist dead at age 77

Victoria MacKenzie-Childs, an American ceramic artist and co-founder of the luxury home goods firm MacKenzie-Childs, died on March 4, 2026, at age 77.

Born in San Francisco on August 26, 1948, she moved to Madison, Indiana, in 1960 and later graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1966. She earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from Indiana University in 1970, took graduate courses at Harvard and Radcliffe, and received a degree from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 1977.

With her husband Richard, she founded MacKenzie-Childs in 1983, and the company became known in the 1990s for its Madison Avenue boutique and whimsical style. The couple lost control of the company in 2001 after bankruptcy proceedings.
