A Rakhine artist whose career began in 1978, he was widely heard in Myanmar from the late 1970s through the mid-1980s and was regarded as one of the country’s most successful male singers during that period. His pop and rockabilly recordings were noted for appealing to both younger and older listeners, and he worked with leading songwriters including Saw Bwe Mhu, Naing Myanmar, Soe Lwin Lwin, Maung Maung Zan and Thukhamein Hlaing.
He also wrote songs for other popular performers, including May Sweet and his wife, Maykhala, and in later years said he had released 20 albums and more than 200 songs.
