Peabo Bryson, the American singer and songwriter known for “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love,” “Beauty and the Beast” and “A Whole New World,” died on June 2, 2026, at age 75 after a stroke.
Born Robert Peapo Bryson in Greenville, South Carolina, on April 13, 1951, he built a career as a recording artist, composer and producer that began in 1976. His work brought him two Grammy Awards, in 1993 and 1994, and included a run of successful recordings that helped define his place in contemporary R&B and adult-pop music.
