Miguel Zavaleta, the Argentine musician and songwriter behind Suéter and the author of “Amanece en la ruta,” died on August 31, 2026, aged 71.
Born in Buenos Aires on February 16, 1955, he worked as a singer, composer and pianist in Argentine rock and became known as the leader of the new wave and rock group Suéter, which he fronted from 1981 to 2007. He wrote many of the band’s best-known songs, including “Él anda diciendo,” “Comiendo gefilte fish,” “Desvanecidos” and “Extraño ser.” After the group broke up, he began a solo career and released his first independent album, No sé, quizás, suerte, in 2011, with production by Palo Pandolfo and Mario Breuer.
