A native of Beijing, she was a retired performer who became a national first-class actress and later a professor at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. She also worked as an inheritor of China’s national intangible cultural heritage, served as a deputy to the National People’s Congress and was a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
Li joined the National Peking Opera in 1966 and won the first China Plum Blossom Award in 1984.
