Manfred Böckl, a German writer, died on April 20, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born in Landau an der Isar, Bavaria, on September 2, 1948, he wrote historical fiction and, from the 1980s, novels often set in Bavaria and concerned with crime, abuse of power, historical renegades and seers. He had a local breakthrough in 1991 with a novel about the Bavarian prophet Mühlhiasl.

A recurring subject in his work was Celtic culture.
