Elisabeth Kirkby, the Australian actress, politician and radio broadcaster known for Number 96, died on April 20, 2026, aged 105.
Born in Bolton, Lancashire, England, in 1921, she began her career as an assistant stage manager before working in theatre, radio, television and film. She later entered politics, serving in the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1981 to 1998 as a councillor with the Australian Democrats, and also held local government office in Temora from 1999 to 2004 with the Australian Progressive Alliance.
