Julian Hunt, Baron Hunt of Chesterton, a British meteorologist and life peer, died on April 20, 2026, aged 84.

He was born in Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, British India, on September 5, 1941. Hunt served as Director General and Chief Executive of the British Meteorological Office from 1992 to 1997.

He was made a Labour life peer by Tony Blair in 2000 and sat in the House of Lords until 2021. He also led the Labour group on Cambridge City Council in the 1970s and was professor of climate modelling at University College London.
